How long have you attend FBC Holton? 4 years
What is your favorite book of the Bible and why? The books that Paul authored are where I most frequently find myself studying. His books give us the most detailed explanation of Christian doctrine. When forced to narrow my answer to a single book, I have to go with Romans since it covers the entire scope of our Christian walk from eternity past to eternity future.
What is your favorite Bible verse and why? I couldn’t narrow it down to a single verse, but Ezekiel 36:16-32 is my favorite gospel passage in the entire bible. It shows the continuity of how God works in salvation for all time; not just in the New Testament, but in the Old Testament as well. It starts by showing the utter sinfulness of mankind, but despite their (our) sinfulness God saves sinners by His power alone and for His glory alone. It is my favorite passage to show how one is born again and the results of that new birth that only God can give.
What is one blessing you have seen while serving in your role? I am most blessed by our ability to help others in many different ways. We are able to do this only because of the generosity of our congregation, which is another blessing in itself.
If you could choose one person from the Bible to be, who would you choose and why? No hesitation here–David. What man wouldn’t want to be the warrior/poet king that slayed the giant.
What is something fun/unique about you that others may not know? I asked my wife how I should answer this, and she thought my time as a guide in the boundary waters of Minnesota/Canada was a good answer. I spent 2 summers leading canoe trips that lasted up to 3 weeks. This body would have a difficult time sleeping on the ground these days.
