Married: 35 years

Occupations: Gus was a teacher/coach at Holton Middle School/High School for 12 years. He’s now been an agent for State Farm Insurance for 34 years. Kristi is retired from working in the Holton Elementary and Pre-K for 24 years. Prior to that she worked as needed for Gus at his office.

Are you from Holton? If not, where are you from? Gus was born in Riberalta, Bolivia. His family moved to Winchester, IN where he grew up. Kristi is from Soldier, KS.

What is your family’s favorite activity? Our favorite activities include spending as much time with our kids and grandkids as possible. We have season tickets to K-State Football and enjoy attending as many of those as we can. Gus especially enjoyed driving Dick Noblet to the games when he’d be able to go. We enjoy traveling to various states as our daily schedules have become more flexible.

What is your family’s favorite season? NOT winter!

What is your family’s favorite tradition? With all 3 of our girls married and living miles away, we try to get together for holidays and birthdays with whoever can make it. The only time we make sure we’re all together, and there’s no compromise on this, is for Christmas.
