Family Members: Jason & Melanie
Children: Noah (Age: 22), Kaden (Age: 21), Mariah (Age: 18), Bridget (Age: 16 – Junior)

How long have you attended FBC? 23 years

Which service do you attend? Both

Married: 24 years

Occupations: Jason is the IT Manager for USC, LLC up by Sabetha. He is also self-employed as a computer consultant with several local, small businesses. Melanie spends her days giving piano lessons and working remotely as a quality control specialist for Telus Int’l. Noah, Kaden, and Mariah have flown the coop and keep busy with various employments and schooling in Topeka and Springfield, MO. Bridget is a full-time student at Holton High School, volunteers as a teaching assistant at Studio One Dance Center, and baby-sits for a few local families.

Are you from Holton? If not, where are you from? Jason spent part of his growing up years south of Topeka at Auburn, but attended middle and high school in Holton. Melanie grew up on a dairy farm south of Denison, but generally claims Holton as her home town. Jason and Melanie purchased their home on Colorado Ave. in March 2001, so all four kids have grown up in Holton.

What is your family’s favorite activity? Honestly, we just love being together when we all manage to get under one roof these days, but we do enjoy playing cards and board games together as well as having a good ol’ family movie night. When the weather is nice, we have been known to frequent putt-putt golf courses and go-cart tracks.

What is your family’s favorite season? Jason loves spring and summer and dislikes fall and winter. Melanie loves something about all the seasons (even summer). The kids never say much about the seasons, except Bridget. Her favorite season is winter because it’s the only time her allergies aren’t making her miserable.

What is your family’s favorite tradition? Every year in early December, we put Christmas music on, order pizza, and decorate the Christmas tree together. Lots of laughs are had… a little complaining (about childhood ornaments the kids find embarrassing and try to hide at the back of the tree), but most of all, we just love each other. We also love big family dinners at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, and mostly injury-free family celebrations at 4th of July!!
